A LOOK BACK AT 2017:
I hope that you are already enjoying a wonderful Holiday Season with your families. Though this time of year can be very hectic and crazy, in those rare quiet moments I do find myself looking back on all the wonderful events of the year. In that spirit I have been thinking about the Women’s Association and all our incredible accomplishments in 2017. I have such happy memories of the hard work (I think my feet are finally feeling better!) and fun that we had producing Mansion in May 2017. When you think about how we were able to meet our pledge of $1.5 million for the creation of the Center for Nursing Innovation and Research and what that kind of support to the Morristown Medical Center Nurses means, it is really quite astonishing. The phrase “It takes a village” really does ring true. I am always humbled by all the work our seven Twigs continue to do. Whether they are raising funds through vendor sales or fun events, knitting their fingers to the bone for the children in Goryeb or helping to decorate the hospital for the holidays - they continue to embody our core values of community, collaboration, excellence, professionalism and fun. Looking to the immediate future, did you know that the Women’s Association will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2018? In honor of this milestone we are planning three events in the Spring that I hope you will put on your calendar. On Thursday, March 1st Barry Thomson, our favorite historian, will be giving a talk about the history of all the past Mansions in May in the Malcolm Forbes Theatre at MMC. Our Annual Meeting will be a luncheon in the new event space at Natirar on Wednesday, April 11 – a beautiful location to celebrate 125 years of accomplishments by the Women’s Association.
