SOMERSET HILLS TWIG OF THE WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION FOR MORRISTOWN MEDICAL CENTER RAISES FUNDS TO BENEFIT GORYEB CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

October 4, 2018

MORRISTOWN, NJ, October 4, 2018 – The Somerset Hills Twig, a local branch of the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC), hosted its third annual fundraiser in support of Morristown Medical Center, raising over $7,500. All proceeds will benefit the Healing Arts Program, a drumming program at Goryeb Children's Hospital.

More than 80 guests attended an evening of "Bourbon and Burgers in the Barn" at The Champions Club at Tranquillity Farm in Chester, New Jersey on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The evening featured gourmet sliders, a selection of desserts, beer and wine, a unique bourbon tasting and a 50/50 raffle. Musical entertainment by IronRail, a classic/southern rock band added to the spirit of a fun evening. Our generous sponsors included Denham Capital Management, M & L Power Systems Maintenance, Inc. and Karen Gray, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

The Healing Arts Program at Goryeb gives children and their families an opportunity to interact with each other in the hospital in a non-sick way. Music not only reduces blood pressure and stress, but also facilitates communication. Research has proved that music has direct impact on immunological functioning, suggesting it can influence the healing process.

“We are delighted that this third annual event hosted by the Somerset Hills Twig was such a great success, and are so very grateful for their continued dedication and commitment to WAMMC’s fundraising efforts and Goryeb Children’s Hospital,” said Mary Courtemanche, President, Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center.

The Somerset Hills Twig, which was formed in 2015, is one of the six branches that supports   WAMMC’s mission to promote quality healthcare within the community through service projects and fundraising for Morristown Medical Center.
