Leadership Committees

Underwriting

The Underwriting Committee secures financial support for WAMMC fundraising events from a variety of sources. Volunteers should have great communication, diplomatic and persuasive negotiation skills as well as strong attention to detail.

Volunteers

The Volunteer Committee matches members with volunteer opportunities.  The group interfaces with other committees who require volunteers and reaches out to members who show an interest in volunteering. Committee members need to exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

The Website Committee is tasked with creating the website as well as maintaining the information on the individual pages. The committee interacts with all of the other committees so it is a highly visible role.  Volunteers require profiency with website management, design layout, writing, image editing, and/or photography skills.

The Program Committee plans and executes the WAMMC Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon, the Annual Board Retreat and the end-of-year June WAMMC Board Meeting. Volunteers for this committee exhibit creativity, knowledge of event production, community networking and hospitality skills.

The objective is to build awareness of WAMMC, its mission and related activities. Publicity outreach should include various media outlets, the community-at-large and the corporate community. The primary goal is to support the fundraising efforts and marketing needs of the WAMMC committees, programs and events. Volunteers require a broad background in marketing, advertising, or public relations as well as excellent communication, writing and editing skills. Understanding of social media platforms also required.

Bylaws/Parliamentarian

The Bylaws/Parliamentarian Committee is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of WAMMC’s Bylaws, and Policy and Procedure Manual, and for updating motions made each year.  Volunteers should be detail oriented with strong writing and editing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word and knowledge of parliamentary procedure.

Nominating

The Nominating Committee selects and vets potential candidates for officer positions on the WAMMC Executive Committee and advises the Executive Committee of members who are potential candidates for present and future Board and committee positions. Volunteers require strong working knowledge of the WAMMC organization and its members, diplomatic communication and the ability to work in a team.

Finance

The Finance Committee prepares the WAMMC Annual Budget and reviews and approves all monetary requests of individual committees, other than their normal operating expenses, in amounts over $1,000.00. The Finance Committee also monitors the monthly WAMMC Treasurer's report including balances and disbursements, and recommends the annual award for the Scholarship Endowment Fund. Volunteers require a finance background with knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping, familiarity with QuickBooks and spreadsheets.

The purpose of the Long Range Planning Committee is two-fold: to manage the research aspect of strategic planning in partnership with the Executive Committee and to maintain the future view of fundraising for WAMMC by identifying and presenting potential fundraising and community awareness projects to the WAMMC Executive Committee and Board. Volunteers possess an understanding of strategy development and planning with working knowlege of WAMMC and strong communication and presentation skills.

Service Committees

Art Committee

The Art Committee works to enhance the healing culture of Morristown Medical Center through art. The Art Committee acquires, approves, maintains, inventories, and places art throughout MMC with priority given to public spaces. Volunteers should have a background in visual arts and time managements skills.

Art Exhibits

The Art Exhibits committee identifies artists and schedules art exhibits on a six-week rotational basis in both the Madison Avenue Gallery at Morristown Medical Center and the Mt. Kemble Gallery at ARI.  The art is available for purchase with 20% of the proceeds going to the WAMMC General Fund. Volunteers should have a background in visual art, networking in the art community, strong organizational and diplomatic communication skills.

Babies Alumni

The Babies Alumni Committee funds the purchase of special equipment for the Women’s and Children’s Services Departments of MMC through support from the families who utilize MMC for Labor and Delivery services.  Funds are raised from appeals through the birthday card program and from a percentage of the sales of photographs from Mom365 Revenue Sharing, an independent company that contracts with MMC to photograph the newborns.  As one of the oldest WAMMC committees, Babies Alumni has been a touchstone to the community at large and is an excellent point of contact to introduce the work of WAMMC. Volunteers should be creative, task oriented and work well in a team.

Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee awards grants to outstanding Morristown Medical Center (MMC) and Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute (ARI) employees who are involved in direct patient care and have requested financial assistance for coursework in pursuing a career in healthcare. The number of scholars and individual award amounts vary and are determined by the Scholarship Co-Chairs and based on the available investment income.

The Hospital Liaison committee supports the MMC community by preparing baskets for Volunteer Week and Nurses' Week, recognizing significant Nursing Team and Junior Volunteer contributions, coordinating the display of flowers in the Chapel, and decorating for the Christmas/Hanukkah holiday season.

The WAMMC TV Committee is responsible for the programming and production for the children’s dedicated channel providing young audience members with an exciting visual in television programming including animation, music, comedy, and educational stories. The committee is also responsible for reaching out to the community, developing relationships with publishing houses, children's storybook authors, and production people. Training is available for committed, enthusiastic volunteers!

Business  &  Fundraiser Committees

The Corner Store Gift Shops are WAMMC-operated businesses that provide income to our organization.  The shops provide retail merchandise, professionally presented, to serve the needs of patients, visitors, staff and volunteers at three locations within Morristown Medical Center:  Franklin 1, Goryeb Children’s Hospital and Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute.  The purpose of the Gift Shop committee is to oversee the management of the shops. Volunteers act as sales clerks in the gift shops and will be required to interact cheerfully with customers as well as use the cash register.

The Bargain Box is a thrift boutique that offers gently used clothing, accessories, books and household items for sale.  This WAMMC operated business provides income to our organization as well as a valuable service to the community. Volunteers should be great shoppers themselves with knowledge of quality brand names to help sort through donations.

Mansion in May is the preeminent fundraising event of the Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center. During “Mansion years”, the designer showhouse is open everyday in May, and is preceded by a formal Preview Gala and exclusive media kick-off events. We will be looking for committee chairs beginning in the Fall before a Mansion Year.  We utilize over 1000 volunteers in the months leading up to a Mansion but especially during the daily business hours of the Mansion in the month of May.

Event Fundraisers

In off-Mansion in May years, WAMMC organizes event fundraisers which require a variety of different volunteers leading up to the event and the day of the event.  We have just had a successful Garden State of Mind weekend fundraiser including the Farm to Table Supper and Secret Garden Tours. Right now we are ramping up for Mansion in May 2017 so there is no other event fundraiser being planned.  We will update this section when we begin planning the next (non-Mansion in May) event fundraiser.
