Long Range Planning

The Long Range Planning Committee has an eye toward the future. We are tasked with exploring potential fundraising and community outreach projects. There’s always a lot of brainstorming going on! We consider what’s been done successfully in the past and look to build on that experience for future opportunities.  In partnership with the Executive Committee, we assess the organization’s progress toward its vision. Volunteers on this committee possess an understanding of strategy development and planning, a working knowledge of WAMMC and strong community connections.

Membership

The Membership/Volunteers Committee promotes new and renewal memberships. We maintain a database of members including their experience, skills and interests to help us match members with the best volunteer opportunities. We ensure our communications systems are up to date with our active members, so they receive communications about WAMMC events and activities. We host events to welcome and introduce new members to current members to build an inclusive and collaborative culture.  We help the committees find volunteers with strong organizational, management, interpersonal, networking and technology skills.  If you have plenty of enthusiasm for sharing ideas, rolling up your sleeves and working with a team of extremely capable and smart people then join us to make a significant impact on the WAMMC community.

Publicity and Marketing

The Publicity Committee markets, brands and promotes the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center. The objective is to build awareness of WAMMC, its mission and related activities. Publicity outreach should include various media outlets, the community-at-large and the corporate community. The primary goal is to support the fundraising efforts and marketing needs of the WAMMC committees, programs and events. Volunteers require a broad background in marketing, advertising, or public relations as well as excellent communication, writing and editing skill. Understanding of social media platforms also required.

Volunteers

The Volunteer Committee matches members with volunteer opportunities.  The group interfaces with other committees who require volunteers and reaches out to members who show an interest in volunteering. Committee members need to exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Service Committees

Art Committee

The Art Committee works to enhance the healing culture of Morristown Medical Center through art.  The Art Committee acquires, approves, maintains, inventories, and places art throughout MMC with priority given to public spaces. Volunteers should have a background in visual arts and time management skills.

Art Exhibits

The Art Exhibits Committee identifies artists and schedules art exhibits on a six-week rotational basis in the Madison Avenue Gallery at Morristown Medical Center. The art is available for purchase with 20% of the proceeds going to the WAMMC General Fund. Volunteers should have a background in visual art, networking in the art community, and strong organizational  skills.

Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee awards grants to outstanding Morristown Medical Center (MMC) employees who are involved in direct patient care and have requested financial assistance for coursework in pursuing a career in healthcare. The number of scholars and individual award amounts vary yearly and are determined by the Scholarship Chair based on the available investment income.

Healing Services

This committee decorates the hospital in December, puts together baskets for Volunteer Recognition Week  and Nurses' Week, maintains  the flowers in the Chapel, and awards the Ruth Award to a Junior volunteer and works with Patient Experience to award their Irene Fortunado Awards.
Many volunteers are needed to help decorate in December and take down decorations in January. Two coordinators are needed to oversee the decorating and volunteers.  Two or three volunteers are needed to review award applications in the spring.

Business  &  Fundraiser Committees

Gift Shops in MMC

The Corner Store Gift Shops are WAMMCE-operated businesses that provide income to our organization. The shops provide retail merchandise, professionally presented, to serve the needs of patients, visitors, staff and volunteers at three locations within Morristown Medical Center:  Deskovick 1, Goryeb Children's Hospital and Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute. The purpose of the Gift Shop Committee is to oversee the management of the shops. Volunteers act as sales clerks in the gift shops and will be required to interact cheerfully with customers as well as use the cash register.

The Bargain Box Thrift Shop

The Bargain Box is a thrift boutique that offers gently used clothing, accessories, books and household items for sale. This WAMMC operated business provides income to our organization as well as a valuable service to the community. Volunteers should be great shoppers themselves with knowledge of quality brand names to help sort through donations.

Mansion in May

Mansion in May is the preeminent fundraising event of the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center. During Mansion years, the designer showhouse is open everyday in May.  The event includes boutiques, gardens, designer sales and a café just to name a few.  We call upon over 1,000 volunteers in the months leading up to a Mansion but especially during the daily business hours of the Mansion in the month of May.  We will be looking for committee chairs beginning in the Fall before a Mansion year.

Event Fundraisers

In off-Mansion in May years, WAMMC organizes events which require a variety of different volunteers leading up to the event and day of the event.  We welcome people with the ability to organize and manage all aspects of a special event, including décor,  menu, entertainment, publicity and design work and food and beverage offerings.  As in other events, the money raised will be targeted to a specific cause to support Morristown Medical Center.
