The Busy Bee Award

This award recognizes volunteers who have served WAMMC in many roles over the years. Kathy joined the Women’s Association in 2012 and has contributed in numerous ways, including serving as Mansion in May Landscape Chair and Volunteer Coordinator for many years. She also chaired the IT Committee and returned to the Executive Team to fill an open Vice President role after several years as Secretary. Kathy has said “yes” to many opportunities to support our mission, and we are proud to recognize and congratulate her as this year’s Eleanor Awardee.

The Kindness Closet

Staff and Volunteer Recognition

Launched by Kristen Gilfillan from the WAMMC office and Victoria Heskett (not pictured) from the Guest Services Department, Kindness Closet provides essential items to support parents of newborns at discharge, including car seats, Pack ’n Plays, clothing, Uber gift cards, and other basic needs. The program is now managed by lead volunteer Michelle Connahan.

Barry Thompson

Service and Dedication Award

Barry has served as our Mansion in May historian since 1974, starting with the first event. With extensive research and writing, he has contributed articles on the history of each mansion to our Journal and other programs. He is also an active member of the Mansion Search Committee, where his knowledge of the historic significance of local estates has been invaluable.

Bob and Rosalie Baker

Service and Dedication Award

Known as the “Parking Team Leads” for eight past Mansion in May events, Bob and Rosalie have organized and coordinated all onsite and offsite parking logistics. Through rain, cold, sun, mud, and COVID, they have expertly managed this challenging yet essential part of the visitor experience.
